Ameth Gil Named 2024-25 Coca-Cola LDC Most Valuable Player

SANTIAGO – NOV. 16, 2024 – The LDC Superior league announced today that GIE Cibao Immortals six-time All-Star guard Ameth Gil has been named the 2024-25 Coca-Cola Most Valuable Player. Gil is the third Immortal ever to capture league MVP honors, joining Oliver Garcia and Khalil Small.

Gil led the LDC in scoring for the second season, averaging 20.2 points per game, joining Oliver Garcia as the only Immortal ever to post an average of 20-plus points in a season. He is the first LDC player to win Player of the Year, scoring title, First Team Honors and win the championship.

He also led the Immortals to a 11-0 regular season, the team’s best since 2020. The first seed in the 2024 LDC Playoffs, along with the top local scorer in the NCAA tour of Americus.

“I’ve watched Ameth grow and evolve into one of the greatest players in Immortals franchise history over the last six years. Today is a proud day for our organization as Ameth becomes the third Immortal ever to capture League MVP honors,” Jermaine Barnes said. “Ameth was our captain in the LDC as well as the NCAA tour, and now, his intense work ethic has pushed him into the LDC history books. It’s been a joy to watch him dedicate himself to the team and the city of Santiago. Congratulations to Ameth, our team couldn't had a better leader.”

This season also saw Gil add in 6.2 rebounds on a career-high 44.8% shooting from the three. He’s the third player in LDC history to average at least 20 points and 6 rebounds on 44% shooting from the three (20.2ppg).

Defensively, Gil posted 1.0 blocks (seventh in the LDC) and 2.0 steals per outing. This season was by far the best single season performances in LDC history.
