BARCELONA-  It was announced today (May 13) that the GIE Cibao Immortals men's basketball team will travel to Spain from August 31- September 9.  The team will play preseason games in Mataro on September 3, Barcelona on September 5 and Madrid on September 7.  It will mark the Immortals' second trip to Spain and the first since playing four games in Barcelona on October 5-9, 2017.  The last time the Immortals took an international tour was in 2019 when they traveled to France. Mataro Parc Boet of the EBA will host the preseason opening round.

"We are very excited to return to Spain", said head coach Jermaine Barnes.   Alberto Peña has been a great friend for many years.  He has done a excellent job with Boet this season.  My goal is always getting my players more opportunities in Europe.  Covid put an end to our partnership in 2019.  So, it's very exciting to return back to Barcelona.

The Immortals will depart from the Dominican Republic on August 30 and arrive in Barcelona.  The team will play its first game of the tour versus the Madrid Mataro Parc Boet on Tuesday, September 3 at 7:00 p.m. (1:00 p.m. ET).  The team will return to action on Wednesday, September 4 against Mollet at 7:00 p.m. (1:00 p.m. ET).  The Immortals' final games will take place on September 5, 6 and 8 at 6:30 p.m. (12:30 p.m. ET) versus Madrid in Barcelona.

In addition to the games, the Immortals will be practicing and sightseeing during their time in Spain.
